October is definitely one of the Walt Disney World Travel Examiner’s favorite times of the year to visit Disney World. Not only is the weather milder, but there are fewer tourists at the parks and resorts. During this time you will be able to enjoy all of our favorite attractions, with little to no wait, plus be able to participate in some of the fun fall events happening throughout the parks and resorts.

Special events during the month of October include Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Disney’s Wine and Dine half marathon and Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival. Plus, you do not want to miss the “Eat to the Beat” concert series held at Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival, which is included in theme park admission.

Because crowd levels are so low during October, using the Disney FastPass+ system will make it possible to enjoy some of your favorite attractions more than once during your visit. Single rider lines will make it possible to enjoy some of the more popular attractions such as Test Track several time back-to-back. Just remember that when using the single rider line your party may be riding in separate cars.

October is considered “value season” at Disney World. During this time Disney has been known to offer specials on room rates, vacation packages and dining plans. Check with you Disney travel agent for any upcoming specials during this time.

Even though the theme parks may not be as busy in October, the restaurants still get a lot of business. Those who are not able to get into their favorite restaurants other times of the year will make plans to do so in the slower months. Because of this, you should still take full advantage of the Advance Dining Reservation system for your favorite table service restaurants. You can make these reservations up to 180 days prior to your arrival.

Do not forget to bring a light jacket with you when you go to the parks at night. Temperatures can drop down into the 60’s during this time of year and things can get a little chilly once the sun goes down. If you plan on enjoying any of the water attractions, make plans to do it earlier in the day when the sun is shining. That way you will be dry by the time temperatures start to drop.

If you love Halloween, October is the month for you to visit the theme parks and resorts. All of the Halloween decorations will be up, making for interesting photos.

Happy vacationing!
