A great option to chocolates and flowers: Joey Arias on Valentine's Day

Leave it to Marc Huestis to be everyone's Valentine.

It seems a tradition of his to make a special day on the one usually devoted to chocolates and flowers.

Marc Huestis presents Joey Arias' Love Swings show at the Castro Theatre on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 8pm. Huestis promises this to be his usual extravaganza and to amp that up, Veronica Klaus will appear as a special guest.

This rare San Francisco appearance will showcase the varied and unique talents of Arias. Part jazz singer, part cabaret chanteuse, part erotic mistress of illusion, part bawdy comic, always uniquely unpredictable, the NY TIMES describes him as "downtown New York's answer to Cher." This evening of song and spectacle will feature Arias singing songs of love with a sly touch of seduction- all in his own singular style.

Opening the show will be SF's own inimitable chanteuse Klaus, who just released a CD, "Something Cool." . Also there will be special guest appearances by the effervescent Connie Champagne, video by Leo Herrera, a VD fashion show by Mr. David and other swinging surprises! For VIP ticketholders an extra treat- a bubbly after show reception with Arias and other stars in the Castro Theatre Mezzanine sponsored by the Bubble Lounge.

Tickets are available at www.ticketfly.com/purchase/eventV2/195613?utm_medium=bks or by calling 415 863-0611. Tickets range from $28-38 for balcony and orchestra and $75 for VIP reserved seating including VIP reception.

By the way, if that isn't enough - Valentine's fun continues through the weekend. One of my favorite singers, Linda Eder, will be playing at Yoshi's with two performances - 8pm and 10pm on Saturday night. She is a Broadway style singer with a big voice, great range and has been compared to Barbra Streisand. The two singers are different - but Eder certainly should entertain anyone who loves Streisand - and does a lot more concerts than Barbra too. Check it out at www.yoshis.com. (A great Valentine's present as besides getting to hear a great performer, Yoshi's is one of San Francisco's top restaurants).
