In 2013 the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum opened in a new location next to the Smith Center in Symphony Park, Las Vegas with more family-orientated, hands-on learning experiences. The focus is on science, the arts, culture, and early childhood development. Explore the Summit, a 70-foot tower, that ascends all three floors with interactive activities along the way. Or, take the stairs or elevator to the floors. On the first level explore Waterworld, a real draw with the younger children as they splash and learn about the power of water. In Fantasy Festival climb the pirate ship and watch a stage show. For the youngest there is Toddler Town including an Art Zone.
On Level Two is where to find traveling exhibits and learn about environmentally friendly homes and cities. And, “It’s Your Choice” is the place to learn about making healthy lifestyle choices that ranges from exercise, using sun screen, and picking foods to eat or not to eat.
Level Three will keep all ages busy at “Solve it! Mystery Town.” A brief video challenges visitors to solve a mystery. Using their Field Notes they record their evidence that offer clues to the solution. Also on the same level is “Patents Pending” where budding inventors can design and test their design using the Drop Zone, Air Towers, and Quake Proof testers. The Las Vegas Discovery Museum is a fun experience for the family and a wonderful addition to the “Gotta’ Do” Las Vegas list.
