A garden of delight for Valentino Spring Summer 2013 Haute Couture (Photos)

Valentino designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli presented a stunning garden-inspired Spring Summer 2013 collection on Wednesday.

The duo used predictable Valentino colors of red, black and white in the most unpredictable ways. Sheer capes and dresses resembled scroll-like garden gates, while duchess silk structured gowns looked liked statuary within the garden. Gowns and short dress were covered in blooms and often matched the footwear.

Materials included silk, chiffon, organza, lace, wool, voile and tulle. Pieces were mixed to create unusual effects by combining the ornate with the more simplistic.

Workmanship was everything in this collection which brought a bit of the Renaissance forward toward modern elements of the sixties. Couldn't you have imagined Jackie O or Princess Grace of Monaco in one these designs? Modern, classic and feminine describes this array of stunning pieces. Perhaps the Duchess of Cambridge might try Valentino.

These looks will translate perfectly to red carpets everywhere and you can be sure Anne Hathaway will be seen in some of these pieces.

My two favorites were the red cloaked dress and the black sheer cloak with scroll detailing.

Every piece in this collection was astounding.
