A Gaggle of Fort Worth Authors February 18

A Gaggle of Fort Worth Authors is being held at the Fort Worth Central Library on Saturday, February 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. Moderated by Quentin McGown, the event features a panel of authors “discussing their books and their relationship to Fort Worth history.”

If you’re a history buff, like meeting and interacting with authors, and getting your books autographed, this is an event you don’t want to miss.  The authors who make up the Gaggle are listed below, with a brief description of their books:

Richard Selcer and Kevin Foster, Written in Blood, Vol.2: The Story of Fort Worth’s Fallen Lawmen.

A follow-up to their 2010 Volume 1, Written in Blood Vol. 2 presents the stories of 13 line-of-duty deaths of Fort Worth law enforcement officers during the years from 1910 to 1928.

J’Nell Pate, Arsenal of Defense: Fort Worth’s Military Legacy

Fort Worth has an impressive military history: from its beginnings as a military post to its relationship with Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopter, and the Fort Worth Naval Air Station, and this book covers it all.

Bill Neal, Vengeance is Mine: The Scandalous Love Triangle that Triggered the Boyce-Sneed Feud

Although it’s as dramatic as a made-for-TV-movie, this love triangle gone very very bad is a real-life story of betrayal, murder, and courtroom drama. The story is just now finally being told, as the families on both sides have called a truce and tell their stories.

Hollace Weiner, Lone Stars of David

This book presents the stories of some of the Jews who lived in Texas before the battle of the Alamo, who fought in wars, ranched, drilled for oil, created new Jewish communities, and even confronted the Ku Klux Klan. Included are profiles of Neiman-Marcus, Zale Jewelers, and Dell Computer Corp.

After the discussion, there will be a question and answer period, and a book signing. Refreshments will also be served.
