At the end of the month a recurring scare is the dwindling amount in the bank account and not having enough to cover the basic needs. Just got the back to school bills paid and there isn't enough left over to warrant spending on new Halloween decorations. My Halloween Spirit is in full haunting mode, however the dollar bills in my wallet turned into ghosts and were spent on a bag of candy to treat the kiddies.
Desperate times are soothed by fruitful web surfing and found an article that is linked here: http://www.thriftycraftygirl.com/2011/10/31-days-of-halloween-eyes-in-bu...
The article demonstrates how to use left over toilet rolls as Halloween decorations. Whomever came up with this idea, all the credit and my thanks goes to you. It's inexpensive, helps the environment by getting a final use out of an item that is usually simply thrown away and it doesn't damage the environment either because a toilet paper roll is made out of cardboard and this is biodegradeable.
Using the toilet paper roll is quite easy, just cut two holes into the side of one to resemble eyes. Let your imagination run away with you. Cat's eyes, alien eyes, evil eyes, the possibilities are nearly endless. Then insert a glow stick into the tube and place the tube in the bushes or up in the tree depending on how your place is set up. Ta-da! Instand Hallowee decorations.
At a store where I shop I picked up a baggie of small glow sticks for under three dollars. That was well within my budget so that wasn't a problem. There's a count of ten of the glow sticks in the bag. Half of them will be used for the decorations and the other half will probably go into my emergency kit. Glow sticks do keep for quite a while, I wouldn't be surprised if the ones I don't use could be held over for next year.
Being low in the bank account amount doesn't necessarily mean that your spirits have to be low as well. Get creative and share what you're doing. You may surprise yourself with what can be done. Happy Halloween everybody. :)
