Shifu LeRoy Alsup
In the St. Louis Taichi community, almost everyone knows Shifu LeRoy Alsup. His soft-spoken mild-mannered persona reflects the Yang Style Taichi that he practices.
LeRoy loves martial arts. He started learning Judo at age 8. He also studied Taekwondo and Monkey Style Chinese Kung Fu (Gong-fu) for several years. He was introduced to Taichi at an early age, but was unable to expand upon his learning for many years. Even though he studied with a few instructors, he did not understand the essence of the art until he met Master Abraham Liu in San Diego in the early 1980’s. According to Shifu Alsup, he had a transformation when he was introduced to the Yang Family in 1999. Since then, he has been a student of Master Yang Jun, the 5th Lineage Holder of Yang Family Taichi.
Shifu Alsup has 25 years of experience teaching Taichi. To promote this art, which he is deeply passionate about, he is offering a free Taichi seminar to introduce the art of Tai Chi, the quintessence of applied Yin and Yang, of motion of flowing out of stillness, of alloyed grace, strength, power, and mental focus. The goal is to review the art both as a health developing wonder and as a powerful martial art. Taichi is open to people of all ages, and physical presence. There will be a demo and simple teaching during the seminar. Everyone is welcome.
This free event will be held on Saturday the 17th of October from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. It will take place at the Three Tigers Martial Arts (208 Frank Scott Parkway, Swansea, IL 62226). You can make a reservation by calling 618-530-5942.
