Attend a free concert, a new kind of an “Olympic event,’ heart-thumping world music, and bluegrass rhythms galore with the ‘Down Home Up Here Bluegrass Festival’ at Club Passim this week!

On Monday, April 14, BCMFest Session is an evening featuring a selection of brilliant Boston-based music talent in the Celtic tradition at 7 p.m. BCMFest Session featuring Celtic artists and musicians are held every second Monday of each month. The large-scale two-day concert festival takes place every January. Forget the wallet at home and enjoy an evening full of surprises!

Canadian-based Indie folk singer-songwriters The Olympic Symphonium excel in stirring melodies and magnetic harmonies. With their new album release this year, ‘Chance to Fate,’ this trio will be captivating audiences at Club Passim along with the yearning vocals of experimental folk artist Jacob Augustine on Tuesday, April 15 at 8 p.m.

Explore a southern kickin' string band with ‘Old Buck,’ a southern bluegrass quartet that bring gospel, punk, and old time Americana to the stage! With a bright and engaging sound, ‘Old Buck’ will jam at Club Passim with renowned, soulful singer-songwriter and fiddler, singer Jen Starsinic on Wednesday, April 16 at 8 p.m.

Seeped in world flavors such as flamenco, Balkan, Romanian, French hot jazz, Turkish, Greek, and a dash of rock and roll, discover the LA-based group, ‘Fishtank Ensemble!’ Lively and unhinged, this music, ‘Fishtank Ensemble’ is as much a wonder to witness as they are to listen to. They take on Club Passim for two nights on Thursday, April 17 and Friday, April 18 at 8 p.m.

Club Passim has set off the weekend with their second annual ‘Down Home Up Here Bluegrass Festival’ featuring a wide variety of musical guests, workshops, and classes in all things bluegrass! On Saturday, April 19, learn about playing bluegrass by fiddle, guitar, and banjo with separate classes from 11 am until 3:15 p.m. The music starts with live performances by Jen Starsinic, ‘Blue Hat, Yeah,’ the Lonely Heartstring Band and more at 4 p.m.

The final day of the festival takes place on Sunday, April 20 with live performances by Mark Whitaker and Friends, 'The D-Line,’ ‘Twisted Pine’ and more at 5 p.m.

All performances will be held at Club Passim, 47 Palmer Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Become a member of Club Passim and get the VIP treatment with first access to shows and more.
