A forever home is hard to find for a pet. When a pet is adopted by a family it doesn't always mean that they become a member for life. As life has hardships and struggles, that can mean for the furry member of the family they may lose their home. It's a sad reality for a pet, that when times get difficult they may lose their stable environment . In the news recently, pets were being dumped off at The Humane Society of Indianapolis during non-business hours. Individuals were recorded by video camera, illegally leaving dogs in crates or lose on the property. This circumstance reflects how people can be so irresponsible and lack compassion toward animals.
Recently, I had a good experience with a person I knew, wanting a dog. Over the past few months, she had been talking to me about getting a dog for her daughter. She had specific requests for the dog she wanted to adopt, which after some time I was able to fulfill.
I was excited to tell her the good news about the dog when I saw her. When I began to tell her that I had found the perfect dog for her and her daughter, she told me that recently, they decided not to get a dog. They decided together that they didn't have the time to devote to a dog. They felt that a hamster would be a better fit for her daughter.
I was actually happy that she and her daughter could be honest about what kind of pet would be a good match for them. I wish that more people would take the time to reflect upon their lifestyle before adopting a pet.
