A solid mid-season snow storm has blanketed Girdwood in a foot of new snow and has left Winterfest goers to tend with some interesting ski conditions.

Alyeska resort is reporting 12" on new snow at the base, 16" at the midway and a whopping 18" of fresh snow at the top of Chair 5.

Current conditions are variable depending on what part of the mountain you aim to ski. Lower elevations are getting hit with rain and the snow is wet and heavy.

Higher up on the slope there is nothing but fresh powder and tracks to carve.

If you are heading to Girdwood this weekend be prepared for varying conditions and bring a lot of extra dry clothes. Also, make sure to check current road conditions before heading out of Anchorage.
