I recently got turned onto this butter when last visiting one of the innkeepers I work with in New Hampshire. Very surprised and pleased I was to find Kate’s Butter in the dairy section of the Waterford Stop and Shop.
While the butter is not Plugra it does have a great fresh cream butter taste, I’m usually a buyer of Cabot Butter primarily because it’s Cabot and they have always had a good history of quality products. But for slathering on some fresh baked bread or a last minute addition to a sauce, Kate’s has a great flavor and the cost is the same at the Waterford Stop & Shop as the generically tasting Land O’Lakes and less expensive then Cabot by about a dollar.
The things that also appeal to me is it’s made in New England; Maine to be exact. Salted with Sea Salt and made with all-natural ingredients - free of artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.(Ingredients: Cream, Sea Salt) They also only use fresh pasteurized sweet cream from cows not treated with artificial growth hormones (also known as Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone, rBGH, Bovine Somatotropin, or rBST).
I hope the Waterford Stop & Shop continues to carry this great product and if you don’t see it there, please ask them to restock or re-carry it.
