A Film That Explores Many Aspects of Miscarriage

Dear Examiner-Miscarriage Community,

My name is Dane Terrell and I’m honored to be featured in Lucy Logan’s column about a painful event that plagues women, specifically 1 out 4 women, I’m of course talking about miscarriages.Sadly, that was the case of two dear friends of mine. After watching them go through the agonies of their miscarriage; the isolation, the dreadful silence, the ending of friendships, and painstaking divorces, I was initiated into the maddening, uncertain world of miscarriage and began penning
the screenplay to the film, CASEY, now currently in production by Made U Look Productions.

Unlike women with celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and diabetes, alcoholism, (a little more on that later), all of which have been scientifically proven to cause miscarriages, many women are left in the dark (as to why they miscarried), emotionally hostage, like TERESA BROWN, the leading lady in my film CASEY.

In the throes of her second miscarriage, Teresa has never felt more alone, haunted not only by dreams of her unborn children, by the unsettling, unanswerable question that many women who miscarry face, WHY? Too traumatized to conceive again, an emotional hostage of her guilt, Teresa avoids seeking professional help, to the ultimate detriment of her marriage with Paul.  Alone and confused, Teresa then befriends CASEY ROBERTSON, a seventeen year old being
bullied at school and physically abused by his alcoholic mother, Norma.

As I stated earlier, alcohol has been a known agent for miscarriages, and sadly the leader in retardation, and other abnormalities in fetuses, better known as Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.  A groundbreaking, feature film that weaves the psychological trauma of miscarriages, the brutality of female alcoholism, with child abuse and school bullying, I’m eager to share my upcoming film, CASEY, now in production. While nothing could ever replace those babies who never got a chance at life, I hope CASEY gives you solace, and hope to Dare to Live and to Dare to Live Again.
