One of the biggest BMX events this summer, possibly of the decade, was the RAD reunion party held in Calgary and Cochrane, Alberta. The weekend's festivities commemerated the 25th anniversary of the cult classic BMX film "RAD".
BMX riders from all over the country made their way to Calgary for the momentous occasion. A special big screen showing of the movie followed by an interview and riding demo by BMX legends Martin Aparijo and Eddie Fiola., who both starred in the movie was the first officila event of the weekend. Action movie director Hal Needham was in attendance to talk about his film, as was the underground hits' main character, Cru Jones, played by actor Bill Allen.
There were many other movie actors, crew members, and legendary BMX figures in attendance as well.
Over the course of the weekend there were many events for BMXers to enjoy. One was the skatepark jam put on by Calgary bike shop BMX Gallery: 4130. The skatepark in Cochrane was jammed with hundreds of spectators as scores of riders took their turn riding all that the park had to offer.
