We think you're near Los Angeles

A few Jazz notes

It's February already.  The year is moving right along.  This is the shortest month of the year, but this year it has an extra day because of leap year.  This month is designated as African American history month and includes Valentines Day, President's Day and also my birthday.  Happy birthday to all those born in the month of February.

Tonight you can catch some jazz around southern California.  At Nola's A Taste of New Orleans in downtown Los Angeles, Curtis Parry on jazz vocals and guitar will grace the stage for a 7pm show.  Jay Matsueda & Steve Weingart will be featured at the Blue Whale in Little Tokyo of downtown Los Angeles at 8pm.  Jules Day has an 8pm show at Vitello's Jazz and Supper Club in Studio City.

Grammy Award winning pianist, composer and arranger Clare Fischer passed on January 26, 2012 at the age of 83.  He worked with some outstanding artists over the years including: Prince, Michael Jackson and Natalie Cole.  Funeral services will be open to the public on Staurday, February 4th at 11am at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills/Burbank on 6300 Forest Lawn Drive.  My condolences go out to his family, friends and his associates in the music business.
