A weak cold front will move south across the region today and tonight, providing northeastern Ohio with an abundance of cloud cover. The low levels of the atmosphere are very dry, so it will be tough to generate any snowfall from this system. A few flurries will be possible later this afternoon and this evening, but little more than that is expected.
High pressure will build across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley Thursday and Friday with fair weather and moderating temperatures expected across our area. As temperatures warm, the threat for ice jam flooding will increase on rivers and streams across the area, and this threat will have to be monitored closely over the next couple of days.
Here is the forecast: For today, cloudy with a chance of flurries this afternoon. Highs will be in the mid to upper 20s. Winds N 5-10 mph.
Tonight, mostly cloudy with a chance of flurries. Lows will be around 10. Winds E 5-10 mph.
Thursday, partly sunny with highs reaching the low 30s. Winds E 5-10 mph.
Thursday night, partly cloudy with lows around 20.
Friday will be partly sunny with highs climbing to the mid 40s.
Extended Analysis: High pressure will slide to our east Friday night. A cold front will move southward through the Great Lakes Friday night, and across northern Ohio Saturday. Some light rain and/or snow is possible with this system. Any accumulations will be light.
The front will push to the south of the area Saturday night, with precipitation gradually ending.
High pressure will build across the region Sunday and Monday as the flow across the northeastern United States flattens out and gradually becomes more zonal.
