The last Saturday in September is a unique day for families. Look for special events for Family Health and Fitness Day hosted by schools and various organizations. These events are filled with many fun activities centered around family health and well being. Family Health and Fitness Day is meant to encourage families to enjoy healthy, physical activities together.
Families can have a lot of fun creating active games using items found around the house. An example of this is "The 'A-Mazing' Ball Course. Set up a course (inside or outside) by defining the boundaries with: cones, small rocks, pots and pans, etc. Now have all family members "go on a search" and find as many different kinds of balls as they can such as: baseball, basketball, golf ball, ping pong ball, beach ball, tennis ball, etc. Have each family member hand a ball to another family member. Now have fun taking turns navigating the ball through the course by pushing/rolling it with a body part (a foot, a hand, head, elbow, knee, etc.). Have your family create an amazing game of their own!
