Autumn leaves ablaze with color, sweet music filling the air, the scent of delectable food. These are just some of the sights, sounds and aromas that await you if you plan a jaunt to the annual Appalachian Color in the Hills Festival being held in Glouster, Ohio on Friday, October 4 through Sunday, October 6.
Appalachian Color in the Hills Festival Located in the quaint coal mining town of Glouster in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, this family-friendly music and craft festival offers activities and entertainment that are sure to put a smile on all visitors' faces. One of the main attractions of the Appalachian Color in the Hills Festival is its 3-day musical performances featuring a day of country music with the Kentucky Headhunters on Friday, Appalachian bluegrass music on Saturday and gospel music on Sunday. Cost for the three days of concerts on the main stage is $20. VIP tickets are $35. There will also be free local musical entertainment on a second stage.
Another unique attraction at the year's Festival a will be helicopter rides over the Fall forests, the Appalachian foothills and the small village where you can see the colorful seasonal foliage. Cost of the helicopter rides is $40.
The Appalachian Color in the Hills Festival is also the site of a huge craft fair featuring the talents and wares of numerous Appalachian artisans many of whom will be giving demonstrations of their craft.
There will be plenty of activities for the children at the Festival's free Kids Zone where children can meet Smokey the Bear and Woodsie the Owl and enjoy old- fashioned games, magic shows, face painting and activities like pumpkin bowling and bobbing for apples.
Food will be aplenty at the International Food Court with items like gyros, corn-on-the-cob, burritos, pizza, Greek salads, calzones, BBQ, grilled cheese and baklava for sale.
Hours for the Appalachian Color in the Hills Festival are 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. - 11 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday. General admission to the Festival is free but their are fees for the 3-day main concert series and for the helicopter rides.
