A&E Network tight-lipped as 'Duck Dynasty' fans rally behind Phil Robertson

The biggest news in television this week has been the comments made by “Duck Dynasty” star, Phil Robertson in a magazine interview. If you haven’t heard about the controversy it is safe to say you must be living under a rock. There are people standing on both sides of the issue, but the “Duck Dynasty” fans have really rallied to support Robertson. According to a Dec. 20 report from CNN, the petitions started to support Phil Robertson have not been addressed by the A&E Network at all. This is not surprising because when the news first broke mid-week, the network appeared to have been standing behind Robertson.

There are currently two petitions with thousands of signatures making the social media rounds. A Facebook page called “Boycott A&E Until Phil Robertson Is Put Back On Duck Dynasty” has over a million likes and continues to grow each day. The support for “Duck Dynasty” has even shocked the Robertson family. Phil Robertson’s comments were of his own beliefs, but the argument is about whether or not he should be able to say what he wants while being the public face of a private company.

If and when A&E decides to make a statement, they will need to carefully word it. Fans are angry about the treatment of Phil Robertson, and many of them are currently boycotting the entire network. While the situation may resolve between the Robertson family and the network, the fans may not be so forgiving.
