“Of children and travelers” opened with a pretty teen girl hitch hiking on the lonesome highway. A man in a family SVU stops to pick her up. She pulls out her iphone & takes a picture of the car's license plate & she also takes a photo of the male driver. She tells him that it is for the police in case he kills her.
Cady Longmire visits Henry Standing Bear in the county jail. He has a black eye who was beaten up by other prisoners. She tells him that there is a good public defender on the way to help his case. Meanwhile, Walt Longmire is tending the “Red Pony” bar in Henry's absence. He gets a call from Vic who has found the teen girl hitch hiker. She is dead & lying under a local bridge. Vic says she was strangled & Walt finds her passport. She is a 17 year old Russian teen.
Her name is Polina who was adopted by a white couple at Teton county where Walt visits the next morning. Branch Connally came to the sheriff's office with The Ferg & he wants to help out with the investigation. Branch looks terrible, like he hadn't slept in days. Walt & Vic visit the adopted parents who claim they made a mistake in adopting her at age 14. Polina ran away 11 months before & the parents didn't want her back.
The public defender backed out of handling Henry's case. Walt cannot get Henry on the phone either. The tri-couty jail is run from the inside by a native named “Malakie” (Graham Greene). He leads a group of other native gang prisoners. Henry knows him personally & Malakie wants Henry to go red (native) or go dead because he doesn't like Walt or the white lawmen.
Walt & Vic head to a school for girls to discover that Polina was a troublemaker who fought anyone at any given opportunity. The security guard of the school was sent to retrieve Polina, but he disappeared.
What is wrong with Branch? Did the bad medicine affect his spirit? Can Walt & Vic solve the murder of Polina? Will Henry run with the native prison gang or fight them? You watch the full episode of “Of children and travelers” on the A&E official website of "Longmire."
