A Desperate Journey by Debra Parmley

Sally Wheeler has lost almost everything including her home. All she has left are her two children, Matthew and Carolyn, and a few coins she's managed to hide from Luke, the man she calls her husband. But now, Luke Wheeler has disappeared and he has taken her son Matthew with him. Though Sally’s dreams have been shattered and her marriage, a sham, a mother’s love knows no bounds. Determined, Sally sets out with her young daughter Carolyn in tow and an old friend, Moss, to find her husband and get her son back. But suddenly, Sally is not the only one hot on Luke’s trail.
Rob Truman has lost everything too, including the woman he loved. Just released from prison for a crime he did not commit, Rob is out for revenge. It just so happens that Luke Wheeler is the man he is looking for and he is betting Sally will lead him right to Luke.
When Sally and Rob meet, there is instant mistrust between the two of them. Yet there is also a strong attraction that neither of them want to give into. Both painfully aware of their misguided hearts, they strike an alliance for the sake of finding Luke and Matthew one way or another. Setting out across the wild west, the four of them encounter the dangers of nature, wild Indians, and illness. Sally and Rob determined in their search but for very different reasons; for Rob it’s vengeance, for Sally a mother’s love, for both, it is A Desperate Journey.
A Desperate Journey
is a quality western historical romance novel. The author, Debra Parmley, has a skillful way with words that manages to pull emotions from the reader as they are drawn into the story. The two main characters are people who find common ground and bond despite their fears and regrets. They are both strong, determined, yet damaged and flawed. This mixture creates believable personas endearing the reader to the characters.
Continued action, not to mention steamy anticipation, carries the reader to a good old fashion heart racing shoot "em out" ending that will not disappoint. Will Sally and Rob find Luke and Matthew? Will Rob get his revenge? Will Sally get her son back safe and sound? Will Rob and Sally give in to their feelings both emotional and physical?
