Angelina Jolie, who turned 35 on June 4, 2010 is an actress who has received an Academy Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and three Golden Globe Awards.
Jolie made her screen debut as a child alongside her father Jon Voight in the 1982 film Lookin' to Get Out, and her acting career began in earnest a decade later with the low-budget production Cyborg 2 (1993).
Jolie's first leading role in a major film was in Hackers (1995), and she starred in the biographical films George Wallace (1997) and Gia (1998), and won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the drama Girl, Interrupted (1999).
Jolie might be best known for her portrayal of video game heroine Lara Croft in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001).
She has had her biggest commercial successes with the action-comedy Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) and the animated film Kung Fu Panda (2008).
Two film projects seem to keep Jolie busy lately, with a possible third. Salt, to be released July, 2010 and The Tourist in 2011. 'Gossip' has it that she is being considered for the role of Egyptian ruler, Cleopatra with Hugh Jackman as Marc Antony.
In the film Salt, CIA officer Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie) goes on the run to try to clear her name after being accused by a defector of being a KGB sleeper agent plotting to assassinate the President of the United States.
For Salt, filming took place on location in Washington, DC and New York City between March and June 2009. During filming, Jolie suffered a minor head injury while shooting an action scene and was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure. She was released the same day with no life-threatening injuries and filming was resumed. Salt is scheduled to be released in North America on July 23, 2010 and August 20, 2010 in the United Kingdom.
The Tourist is a 2011 drama-thriller film directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck which stars Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie and Golden Globe winner Johnny Depp. It is the remake of the French film Anthony Zimmer.
