A cure for those nauseated by the Obama-worshipping American media

The recent decision of ABC News to carry water on behalf of the Obama Administration, while disheartening, represents merely a continuation of the debasing of American journalism that reached its nadir this past summer, in the slavish adoration of the mainstream media coverage for Obama during the presidential election.

As the ABC News story indicates, what is left of the credibility of mainstream "journalism" has continued to erode since the inauguration of the President Obama.

For news consumers who crave reporting that is free from bias and have grown weary of the nonstop love affair between the press and the president, relief is at hand. For an example of what journalism should be, I suggest you take a hop across the big pond to the United Kingdom and treat yourselves to the pages of the Telegraph.

Unlike certain Newsweek editors, who become misty-eyed and awe-struck every time The One switches on his teleprompter, most of the columnists from the Telegraph report on the Obama Administration with a refreshing candor and irreverence that is wholly absent from the customary and obligatory obeisance that characterizes much of the American press.

Toby Harnden, the Telegraph's Washington correspondent, unlike his American counterparts, neither genuflects, nor worships at the altar of the New Messiah.

For example, Harnden paid no heed to the erroneous conventional wisdom of the media that holds that because he has high unfavorability ratings, Cheney has nothing compelling to say. Accordingly, here is how Harnden scored the Obama/Cheney duel on harsh interrogation techniques: advantage Cheney.

One can find within the pages of the Telegraph other refreshing examples of attacking the sacrosanct icons of the left, as well as tarnishing the sheen of Obama's halo:

Nile Gardiner, one of the Telegraph's commentator's commits the mortal sin of suggesting that Obama stop his world serial apology tour. Columnist Gerald Warner pays no deference to The One and routinely skewers the pretentiousness and self-love exhibited frequently by Barack Obama. Christopher Booker, has done us all a great service by exposing the fraudulent presuppositions and outright falsehoods that underlie the global warming hysteria.

In short, when it comes to critical reporting on the Obama Administration, the Brits have done an admirable job of filling in the void left by the ensuing bankruptcy of the American mainstream media.
