It isn't difficult this time of year to find "best of" lists, whether the list is for movies, music, or even books. Like many people, I am addicted to such lists. I like to see what is similar between lists and what is diverse. For this article, I went through a number of "Best Books of 2013" lists to find 10 novels that seem to have a consensus.
Some lists, like NPR's, offer a wide range of offerings. Others, like the brief list from the USA Today, offer only a few selections. Virtually every list I looked at, though, contained the books listed in the slide show. I reviewed a few of them this year, and I look forward to reading some of the others.
Most of all, I hope 2014 offers as rich and varied a list of interesting books as 2013 has.
