A Comicbook Convention is coming to Hartford

With the ever-rising of comicbooks and their influence on pop culture, Epic Conventions is coming to Hartford this weekend with a comicbook convention. That’s right on Saturday, May 31st from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 1st from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday’s events will feature some interesting and informative panels on comics, cosplay, gaming, and more. Some of Saturday’s guests include (but are not limited to) TV/Film celebrities – Giancarlo Esposito and Katrina Law. Comic Book artists Ed McGuinness, Jimmy Cheung, Joe Benitez, Tim Sale, and others. Cosplay stars such as Riddle1, Bellechere, Kristen Hughey, and Bethany Maddock. Kidz Conn to feature appearances from Batman, Spider-Man, Mr. T, and the Frozen princesses.

On Sunday June 1st the events will include several informative panels led by Thomas Novak featuring the talents of the Reverend Dave Johnson, Giancarlo Esposito, Sara Richard, and Agnes Garbowska. Then the weekend finishes out with a cosplay costume contest. General admission tickets are $25 for single day passes and $45 for two-day passes. VIP packages start at $125 and are available for purchase on the Con’s website, by calling 1.877.522.8499, or visiting the Public Power Ticket Office at the XL Center.

The entire event features numerous celebrities, comicbook writers, and artists, as well as numerous show floor activities, as well as interaction with the pros and other fans via gaming, panels, meet and greets, and more. Also in attendance will be numerous vendors and artists such as Big Dog Ink and Tee Turtle. Other activities include Saturday Night After Party at City Steam Brewery featuring live music and a Star Wars themed costume contest, a drink and draw at McKinnon’s Tavern hosted by Dave Johnson, and much more.

According to the show’s promoters several reasons to attend the show this weekend include: the ability to meet your icons, get their autographs and photographs and a chance to just “hang” with your favorite icon make awesome memories. Have artists draw commissioned sketches for you. Engage in cosplay and actually become your Imagination, Shop for your favorite pop culture collectibles. Make new friends and meet up with old ones. In a show like this, there really is something for everyone. And finally, escaping the norm; not every weekend has to be the same, and here is a way to make this one different.
