Fort Lauderdale, Florida, may indeed be the “Yachting Capital of the World”, but thousands of its neighbors in Miami will probably disagree.
This October 31 – Nov 4, 2013, Ft. Lauderdale will host the 54th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show on October 31-Nov 4, 2013. And hundreds – if not thousands of builders and designers to exotic cars owners and shoppers as well as brokerage yacht dealers from the Miami and surrounding areas will be there.
Of course, people and companies from all over the world will be there too. That’s going to be a lot of traffic – both on the streets, water and on their phones.
So as thousands of boating enthusiasts converge at the upcoming Fort Lauderdale boat how, AT&T is boosting network coverage and capacity at the event to help its customers have a great wireless experience.
In addition to the existing cell sites serving the area, AT&T has set up a COLT, or Cell on Light Truck, on site to accommodate expected increased wireless network demands from high concentrations of smartphone users. The COLT will help improve reliability and data speeds during the five-day event.
AT&T often rolls in mobile cell sites and makes other network upgrades for large events that generate a spike in network traffic in a specific geographic area.
“Events like this boat show can draw tens of thousands of people, most of whom will be using their devices while there,” said AT&T South Florida VP/GM Carlos Blanco-Sposito. “The mobile cell site we’ve rolled in for the boat show will help us provide a much better mobile Internet experience for those in attendance.”
So if you plan on being there, no worries, guys and gals. Your phone will most likely work just fine…unless you loose it in the water. LOL
Stay safe and fun at the boat show.
