Every woman deserves to look beautiful. Designer, Joanna Mastroianni , gives each and every woman a reason to smile and radiate that beauty. She has just the right edge to put women with a chic sense of style on top of the world. Joanna took her audience by storm at Lincoln Center in New York City as she debuted her Spring/Summer 2014 Collection on Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014.
The designer's vision was simple, "The organic brilliant architecture of Gaudi is my vision for Spring 2014. My admiration for his innovative use of materials and engineering inspired me to create a flirty, seductive and playful collection. It was a labor of love to translate his great works of architecture into something feminine, contemporary and most importantly, wearable." The idea came as Joanna recently made a vacation stop in Barcelona.
Having that strong passion for design since she was just a young girl has given Joanna a deeper appreciation for fabrics and colors allowing her the ease and versatility of combining the two for commanding collections.
Mastroianni uses curves in this latest collection as a means of flattering the female form. It represented a modern couture collection with its wave of sophistication and splendor.
Simplistic white and black were as striking as some of the vibrant colors such as Mediterranean aqua, tantalizing tangerine and sunshine yellow. It was very difficult to pick just one particular favorite. Seductive cocktail dresses, the most glamorous gowns, slimming cigarette pants paired with strapless peplum tops and sculpted black one-shouldered dress layered with yellow orchid print all topped the list for the "must haves."
The most glorious presentation came with the various looks for the evening. We viewed black satin shorts beneath a Casa Batillo' smoking jacket, a spectacular hand-beaded cocktail dress, a hand-beaded and white ostrich feathered mini-dress with an apple blossom print and silk/sateen jacket, a black cocktail dress with leather corset arch neckline and bubble skirt. For the woman who prides herself on refinement, the white silk/sateen strapless arch-fitted mini with hand-embroidered bubbles and Swarovski crystals was the ultimate look of the night.
Special attention was given to original embroideries, layering of fabrics, textures and mosaic-like patterns. “I wanted to take the viewer on a magical journey, much like Gaudi does through his works,” says Mastroianni. “My wish is to entertain and surprise the eyes as the garments come to life on the runway. The ‘curve’ is the connecting thread for the entire collection.”
Even though each of the outfits seemed to give off that European glow, the beauty of the collection is that all pieces were designed and produced in Mastroianni's Midtown Manhattan studio, you might say all her collections are American-made.
Joanna has attracted some of the biggest stars eager to wear her outfits from Alicia Keys to Beyonce' to dressing the popular actresses from 'Sex And The City II', Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. She has been prominently featured in such global publications as Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, W, Cosmopolitan, Ebony and Glamour.
This was one of Joanna Mastroianni's most gorgeous collections yet, highlighted at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014. Joanna continues to let her creativity, imagination and eye for detail set the stage and lead the way.
