A Civilain Responds

As you know I retired in 2009, and after 25 years with DoD, I net an amount of 567.00 a month after federal taxes, and this year, I got an ELEVEN DOLLAR COLA!!!. Nope I am not complaining at all……….we are fine………..and I am so grateful that we have TRICARE otherwise that 567.00 would really have dropped…………so, as I see it, there are many more federal employees with far, far less than myself after a quarter of a century devoted to DoD………….I am sure that some would add, that because we also get SS, and TSP that it makes up for the small amount of the OPM pay…………….well, that is the FERS system………..and that is how it is done, but as I said, I believe I am also among the majority of those retirees in regard to dollar amounts…………..and there should not be a comparison to the military retirees loss vs “generous benefits” (of which I don’t see). I may not receive a lot after 25 years………but YEP, it is those in uniform that really stand to lose. Military retired pay and Federal retired pay mix about at much as oil and water.
