This is intended to be the final article on Obamacare; the previous articles can be read here (1,2). In this concluding article, this author will discuss some Biblical problems with Obamacare. This list is not intended to be all inclusive but simply four areas of concern for the Christian apologist.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is injurious to Christian principles in several ways: 1) even after months of automated processing, the true numbers of ACA are still unknown, 2) it is still fraught with distortions and lies, 3) the requirements of ACA has altered and is confusing, and 4) it is contrary to the United States constitutional form of government and appears socialistic.
It is inconceivable that the United States government can track all cell-phone usage but it is unable to calculate the simple demographics of ACA. We find such phrases: “We won't know the exact number of newly insured for a while,” “Without exact numbers,” and “There are a number of factors that could push the total enrollment number higher or lower.” It is purely asinine to declare such demographic numbers are unknowable – and thus is probably another lie.
All sides claim success: “The new report from the Bureau of Economic Analysts found that health care spending rose 9.9 percent during the first three months of 2014, the largest increase since 1980. That's largely because of costs associated with implementing Obamacare…” However, we also see: “Taken together, this suggests that the average premium increase thanks to Obamacare has been very small.” Is it true really true that there are “5 Lies the Democrats Told To Sell Obamacare”?
As if the constant lies were not enough to be inexcusably horrendous, we find that there have been “41 Changes to Obamacare.” Furthermore, despite all the deceits, confusion, and slipshod workings, it still amounts to socialism. The whitewash covering of nomenclature doesn’t really change it: “Granted, this [ACA] isn’t free market capitalism based on the regulations, but any American knows the US is not run on free market capitalism, as it would never work in the real world.” As Former President Ronald Reagan said, "One of the traditional methods of imposing Statism or Socialism on a people, has been by way of medicine. It's very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project. Most people are a little reluctant to oppose anything that suggests medical care for people who can't possibly afford it." In addition, if anyone is wondering about the constitutionality and Obamacare, an interesting article can be found here.
In conclusion, this author believes that Obamacare (ACA) is nothing less than a plague on the United States and certainly a grave detriment to Christianity. Obamacare does not fit the founding father’s vision for the United States – it is against both: religion and morality.
