Some of us have probably heard of the recent feud between comedic actor Will Ferrell and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. It stems from Smith accusing Ferrell of allegedly impersonating him in an online video, joking about the resemblance between himself and the drummer, something that of course did not amused Smith.

Now the feud is about to be expanded to a charity battle. In another online video, Smith challenged Ferrell to a drum battle, in which will go ahead if the two raise enough money for Cancer for College, a charity for college scholarships to cancer survivors. Responding to Smith’s video, Ferrell happily accepted, stating it could be called the “greatest drum vs. cowbell showdown the world has ever seen. Yes, the “Anchorman” actor and Saturday Night Live alum does in fact plans to use a cowbell, which he played on the famous SNL Blue Oyster Cult skit. Ferrell also stated that the battle could be done anywhere from a Fed Hot Chili Peppers concert or in another public place, such as library.

In response to Ferrell’s acceptance of the challenge, Smith lightly taunted the actor, calling him a “delusional imposter”, and needs to seek professional help. No word on when or where the drum battle will take place, or if it will take place at all. But it will perhaps be very interesting, and talked about a lot if it does.
