Okay, here is your usual spoiler warning. If you have not yet seen the results of the Fire & Ice Ball shooting in the Hamptons on ABC's Revenge, you probably shouldn't continue reading until you actually check out the episode.
SPOILER WARNING!
A (thankfully not literal) post-mortem with Joshua Bowman:
Can we all breathe a collective sigh of relief that Daniel Grayson (Joshua Bowman) himself was still left breathing at the end of Revenge’s Fire & Ice Ball? It was hard to imagine that the show would want to get rid of a character with whom so many fell in love, but then again, considering the couple at the center of the series was originally Emily (Emily VanCamp) and Jack (Nick Wechsler), we wouldn’t have put it past the show to kill off the competition to get the audience invested in the soulmates once again. Thankfully for Bowman-- and his fans-- though, the show found a way to keep him around and still complicate their relationship just enough that the wedge that is Jack may come between them yet.
Here Bowman chats with LA TV Insider Examiner on the big “Chaos” reveal and what’s to come for the rest of Daniel’s Hamptons lifestyle.
On when he found out he was not going to take a few bullets in the back: “When we read the table read. I mean, they gave me the heads up a little bit beforehand, but you’re never sure, are you? You don’t actually know until you read it on paper. It’s like a contract. So I read it, and I’m so happy; I’m so happy to be a part of this with everybody.”
On who pulled the trigger: “Expect the unexpected. You’ll see in episode sixteen what took place on the beach, and I’m not going to tell you too much else about that, but it’s going to be a whole lot of crazy. It’s going to get interesting! There’s a whole lot of people who are going to be on [trial]. There’s blood on my shirt, so I might have blood on my hands. You’ll see in [episode] 16.”
On Daniel “toughening up” and embracing his inner Grayson demons: “The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. There is a dark side to Daniel, and hopefully you’ll start to see some of it. You’ll definitely see a little bit before the end of the season. He’s definitely got a vicious side to him, but he’s also got a kind heart. He’s just been brought up in this world where sometimes, like Darwin said, you’re born into an environment, and that’s what makes you. Obviously genetics, but the environment shapes you as well. As much as he tries to get away from it, he’s [bonded].”
On how seeing the photo of young Amanda affects Daniel: “I’m sure he’s going to ask questions. He’s not that stupid! I know people think he’s an idiot but…he’s not stupid, and he’ll definitely start to become more aware. I think he wants to-- my choice is that he gives her the benefit of the doubt because he loves her so much, and he trusts her, and he wants to think this is the last person who’d ever fuck him over. Now I think after all that’s happened, and what he’s seen, he’s going to ask questions.”
On Daniel and Charlotte’s strong bond: “He’s too distracted, I think, [to notice her pill-popping behavior], and that’s the wonder of the character they’re writing. No one knows. Emily knows, I guess, because you saw that in 15…but it’s a side thing. I don’t have any scenes with her, It’s crazy!”
Revenge airs on Wednesdays at 10pm on ABC.
