No, his winnings come in the form of one night with newlywed beauty Elena Laurent. Well, truly he’s hoping to get more of Laurent’s money, more than he is Mrs. Laurent.
But Elena is quite outraged to find her new husband used her in a poker game (what nerve!). Well, if that's all she means to him, she decides maybe she'll just use this outrage as grounds for a divorce; meanwhile, maybe Jed can teach her what a truly fallen woman needs to know.... Before he leaves her in the morning.
But is there any chance this might lead to something more? Can it be possible that an outrageous one night stand could become the spark for a love to last forever? You’ll have to read to find out!
Lover by Chance is a short story of only twenty-nine pages by Ms. Glass but, as usual, she’s at the top of her game. Her riverboat gambling den comes to life, with all the sights and sounds one would expect in such an environment, Ms. Elena’s little cabin is a sparse and yet pretty abode. Despite their start, Jed's quite the gentleman, and what a little cat, Elena might truly turn out to be given the opportunity!
The only complaint I had, and it’s a small one, is I would’ve liked more to this story! More, more! :) But this is, as ever another splendid, hot read from Ms. Debra Glass.
