Currently, a fundraising drive is underway via Groupon to help one non-profit organization outfit working canines, across the nation, with safety vests.
The organization is Vested Interest in K-9s, Inc., and their goal is to help law enforcement agencies provide bullet and stab-proof vests to their canine members.
Use of these vests by working canines can literally mean the difference between life and death.

If 101 people donate $10 to this Grassroots campaign, then Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. can fund a bullet- and stab-proof vest for a police dog. The vests can help protect dogs that are the first to enter crime scenes, where they may confront dangerous people or situations. The dogs receive the vests at ceremonies to demonstrate their valor and service. Each additional $1,006 raised will fund a vest for another K9 dog
