In a follow up to my last article, “The church in the center of things”, it has now been reported by News Max that Cardinal Donald Wuerl , the archbishop of Washington, is calling (if needed) for a national protest by Catholics against the Obama administration’s call for a mandatory provision of birth control and abortion benefits to employees; even if the insurance carriers provide the coverage free of charge.
It is now obvious that the Obama administration is completely ignoring the priority here; religious freedom. It has nothing to with money and everything to do with, doctrine, faith, belief and values.
In essence, it appears the Obama administration continues to ramrod its way into every nook and cranny of traditional American culture regardless of how sacred it might be, in order to further its dangerous and disastrous social agenda; primarily “Obama-care”.
This administration continues to cross the line at every level with increasing contradictions.
Obama supposedly does not want to violate separation of church and state although he allows unbelievable freedom to non-Christian religions: even to the point of almost unlimited access to the White House by Islamic leaders. Yet, he does exactly the opposite by virtue of trying to tell religious institutions that the insurance they carry, WILL provide free benefits covering birth control and abortion regardless of the church’s belief structure.
Many people are increasingly saying, there is simply no “common sense” in this country; that everything once valued and cherished is vanishing before our very eyes.
We have become a nation which seems to “breed on conflict” and blame others for our own difficulties.
Everything from school shootings, gang violence and drug wars (known all too well in the deep South Texas Rio Grande Valley and Brownsville area) seems to be about someone else other than ourselves; the American people. As such, many chose in 2008 to elect a man promising “hope and change” who would eliminate many of these conflicts and difficulties.
Unfortunately in this area where Catholicism is the largest Christian denomination, many here believe the directions taken in order to reach that “hope and change” were wrong.
“We the people in order to form a more perfect union…” have become anything but a more perfect union, due to the likes of ungodly politicians and bureaucrats more interested in either the proverbial all mighty dollar or making THEIR mark on history.
Such is the case with our current president. He has made no secret about his desire to "make his mark in histroy" by changing America. He wants to make and reshape it into his own socialistic design and in order to get there he must tear down the church.
His church attendance since his election has been kept a closely guarded secret by the White House but it is assumed (by numerous sources) to be approximately six worship services since becoming president; although the last time there was an actual statement made, was by ABC News in 2010 when they reported he and his family had attended only three times to that point.
No previous president has attended every week either; due to the very nature of the office. But no president has ever had such a low attendance record indicating Obama's obvious less than supportive role of the church. This is also the first president to choose to miss a prayer breakfast since the National Prayer Breakfast was created back in 1953.
The election of this president appears to have been a matter of historical precedent for the American people rather than a careful and prayerful moral, ethical and Biblical values decision.
It is time America stood strong and every Christian stood with Catholics all across this country by saying NO to a tyrannous government imposing its’ own brand of demented and legislative values on the church.
It should be obvious to Christians of all faiths by now, that the current administration has a deep and far reaching “anti-church” and “anti-Christian” agenda.
America must return to our roots through prayer and petition to ensure that there is a place for the church within the United States of America for future generations to come.
We must remember that contrary to “politically correctness” and re-written history, America was founded on a Biblical foundation. And like any structure, when the foundation of that structure deteriorates, the structure falls apart.
Christians must unite immediately, regardless of faith or denomination and refuse this administration a foot hold into the control of our religious rights and freedoms.
