There is an unverified rumor that fake press passes were being sold for $150 apiece. I saw the fake credential from about four feet. No hard-working and concerned security personnel could allow that to pass, unless he or she was drunk at work.

Opportunists don't just reside in the Phillipines or at Manny's side. Its not a specific race, gender or anything else its the type of person there is on the planet. Look at Africa with all the mistreatment of their women(rape), the blood diamonds and the mistreatment of their own people for money. How about the U.S. with bernie Madoff, the big banks that got bailed out, haliburton or the former presidency here all examples of people taking advantage of opportunities that demean and take away from others. So as it may be that "the event" may have had some filipino opportunists I'm sure given the option or possibility there would have been more people not solely of filipino origin that would have glady done the same things. The people that surrounds Manny Pacquiao are mostly his friends who have known him since he barely started. His entourage is consist of people who have been loyal to him, but we cannot expect everyone to be the same. Manny Pacquiao is by nature a very generous and kind man. There will be people who will take advantage of him for personal gain and vested interests, but there will be people who would be there for him to protect his interests. We love and adore Pacquiao as a boxer. He is considered a Philippine national hero for his exploits in the boxing world, but unfortunately, it does not extend beyond that realm.
Outside of boxing, Manny Pacquiao is just an average Pinoy if at that. True, he's kind of heart and gives to the poor, but so do many other Pinoys who, unlike Pacquiao (a billionaire in RP standard) would sacrifice beyond their means to help other Pinoys who are most needy.
As a family man, so much has been said about Pacquiao's infidelity (ies) and supposed neglect of another son, borne out of wed lock. I am no saint, but I cannot imagine myself or any God fearing man to willfully disown my own flesh and blood. It is troubling that with all of MP's moral decay that he still portrays himself to be so pious. I certainly hate to think that MP only uses God to fluff his image.
I am hoping that the people of Sarangani are just as intelligent as those from Gen San city in choosing their representative.

I love Manny's boxing prowess and success. That said, your article presents the ad infinitum illness of OUR society - THE MANNY PACQUIAOs.
