On the runway and in department stores this Spring, the new fashion queen is brilliant, bold color: deep reds, bright blues, yellows, royal purples and crisp whites, among others. Imagine in your closet slim and cheery canary pants and skirts; a few waist-cinching belts in a rainbow of hues; and frilly, pastel tops with a hint of professional polish to round out any feminine wardrobe.
Take shopping this Spring to the next level by piecing together outfits that demonstrate your good fashion sense. If it doesn’t quite match, have no worries; this is what is happening in fashion right now:
Prints—black and white or splashes of color—go well together as long as at least two identical colors are present in each piece. Take, for example, a striped black, white and yellow top; this top would pair well with a yellow, green and white flower-patterned skirt. The yellow and white in each piece keeps the outfit in line! Remember, you don’t necessarily need to match; your outfit just has to blend. Shoes? Add a pair of sky-blue espadrilles. Top it off with a thin red belt for added flair. Now you’ve got a sexy, sensibly fashionable Spring outfit!
Where could you wear such an outfit? Instead of the blue espadrilles, slide on a pair of yellow, black or white sling-back flats for the office. Replace the flats with heels, add a pair of dangling earrings and three or four thick, gold-colored bangles and you’re good to go for a girl’s night out!
