It's been a typical Winter here in the Northeast Ohio region so are you ready to see some colorful Spring flowers? If you are, then head to the19th annual HBA Akron Home and Flower Show being held at the John S. Knight Center on Friday, February 22, Saturday, February 23 and Sunday, February 24. It is approximately a 45 minute drive from Cleveland to Akron.
HBA Akron Home and Flower Show This year's main attraction of the show will be the over 7000 square feet of feature gardens (showcasing the latest garden accessories and the latest trend in plants) and thousands of Spring flowers to delight your senses.
The Home and Flower Show will also feature gardening demonstrations, home improvement exhibits, various seminars, gardening tips and cooking demonstrations by area chefs. Arts & crafts vendors will also be on hand.
A spotlighted attraction includes appearances by celebrity antiques appraiser, Dr. Lori, star of Discovery Channel's hit TV series "Auction Kings". Visitors will be able to get their antiques and collectibles appraised by Dr. Lori, herself. Dr. Lori appraises more than 20,000 objects each year that are brought to her by members of the audience. She had made national guest appearances on such shows as the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno and "The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart.
Dr. Lori will be making appearances on Friday at 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. and at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday she will make appearances at 11 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Also making appearances at the Akron Home and Flower Show will be Matt & Shari, the current hosts of the series "Around the House with Matt & Shari" airing on public TV stations across the country. Matt Fox and Shari Hiller have the distinction of having created the first ever show to air on HGTV and hold the record for the longest running decorating show (12 years and over 350 episodes) in TV history. They also are the authors of two successful decorating books, write a nationally syndicated newspaper column and have a website about decorating.
Matt & Shari will be making appearances at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday and at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Don't miss the sustainable exhibits (The Eco Living Experience) at the Akron Home and Flower Show where visitors can learn about such subjects healthy eco-living ideas, aquaponics, home energy assessments, hydroponics and even fresh local foods.
New this year will be the Cambria Courtyard Beer & Wine Garden where you can enjoy a local beer (from Thirsty Dog Brewery) or a glass of wine (from the Winery at Wolf Creek).
Hours for the HBA Akron Home and Flower show are 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Admission is $8 for adults and children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.

The John S. Knight Center is located at 77 East Mill Street in Akron, Ohio. Free parking is available during the show in all City of Akron lots starting at 6 p.m. on Friday. Akron is 39 miles from Cleveland and it is approximately a 45 minute drive.
