Last week on Days, EJ confronted Sami at the Brady Pub following Arianna’s memorial service. EJ said that Rafe’s sister was dead because of her and yet Rafe was still her little lap dog. Rafe tried to attack EJ, but Sami warned him to stop. Justin entered the pub and announced that he was Arianna’s lawyer and wanted to read her will. Arianna had contacted Justin while she and Brady were engaged and created a will. Justin carried a small box with him. Sami and EJ both asked what was in the box. Sami was worried the box contained the proof that she shot EJ, but Rafe pointed out that Justin had been out of town the day Arianna was hit by the car. Brady and Nicole arrived at the pub. Justin began to play the video of the will.
Arianna left her car to Rafe and asked him to call their mother once a week. She asked Gabi to take care of Rafe. Gabi asked Justin to stop the DVD and asked Rafe if she could leave. When Gabi was gone, Justin played the rest of the DVD. Arianna left EJ a figurine of St. Anthony and left everything else to Brady. Roman stopped by and asked Rafe to come to the police station because there was a new witness in Arianna’s case.
At the police station, Rafe and Sami met with the witness who expressed his sympathy over Rafe’s loss. EJ insisted on hearing what the man said. Despite Rafe’s protest, the witness asked EJ to stay because he’d helped Arianna and obviously cared about her. After rambling and giving some useless information, the man said he saw a small object get tossed from her purse. EJ asked what the object was. The witness said he wasn’t sure. When he left to fill out paperwork with Roman, EJ asked Sami if that was the evidence Arianna had against her. Sami said there was no evidence. When EJ left the room, Rafe reminded Sami that the area of Arianna’s accident had already been searched and if the camera had fallen into a gutter, it would be useless and waterlogged. Sami hopefully asked if it was over.
At the DiMera mansion, Stefano and EJ discussed EJ’s efforts to retrieve the evidence Arianna had wanted to give him. EJ thought that if he could find the proof that Sami shot him, he’d easily get his kids back. Marco arrived after searching the area where Arianna had been hit with a compact that had fallen into the sewer. EJ was frustrated that nothing else had turned up and ordered Marco to keep looking. Later, Marco called and asked Stefano if they should go through with the assignment they’d discussed. Stefano said “Absolutely.”
Brady went through the contents of Arianna’s safety deposit box at the Kiriakis mansion, pausing to look at a picture of him with Arianna. Nicole asked, “You were happy, weren’t you?” Brady admitted that he had been happy with Arianna but their relationship had soured over trust issues. Brady left to take a call and Nicole started to go through Arianna’s things. After commenting on her useless trinkets and cheap jewelry, she picked up the flip camera. She turned it on and watched as Sami confessed to shooting EJ. “Oh, sweet mother of God!” Nicole said, stunned. Brady came back and asked what was wrong. Nicole said she was just thinking of how sad it was that Arianna died so young. Brady called Rafe and asked him to come pick up Arianna’s things. Rafe casually asked if there was a camera in her safety deposit box. As Nicole slipped the camera into her purse, Brady looked through the box and told Rafe the camera wasn’t there.
Rafe went to the Kiriakis mansion to get the contents of Arianna’s safety deposit box. Sami answered a knock on the door and was surprised to see Nicole, who announced that she was there to see Sydney. Sami said she would never see Sydney again, but Nicole announced that she was going to be a big part of Sydney’s life… and that Sami was going to make that happen. Sami called her delusional and Nicole admitted she knew Sami shot EJ. Nicole had Sami check her email where she found a file of Sami’s taped confession. Sami asked where she had found it and if Brady knew. Nicole said that no one else knew. Sami dumped the contents of Nicole’s purse out looking for the camera, but Nicole just laughed at her. She said she had downloaded the clip online and it could go viral at any time.
Sami asked why Nicole came to her instead of the police. Nicole said it was because it was EJ Sami shot- the same man she used to walk on eggshells around. Sami said she knew Nicole didn’t really want to tell EJ who shot him. Nicole agreed, but insisted Sami let her have a relationship with Sydney. Sami suggested it would be too obvious, but Nicole said they could ease into it slowly. They could tell everyone they’d had a heart to heart, Nicole said. Since she wouldn’t ever be able to carry a baby to term or legally adopt, Sydney was it for her. Sami said she didn’t go through everything just to hand Sydney over to Nicole. Nicole started to leave, but Sami shoved her and she hit her head on the kitchen table and passed out.
Sami was trying to revive Nicole when Rafe got home. Rafe started to perform CPR and ordered Sami to call 911. Nicole woke up and threatened to press charges for attempted murder. Rafe demanded to know what was going on. Nicole announced she had proof that Sami shot EJ and with one push of a button, the video would go viral. Rafe said she couldn’t push buttons if she was dead. Nicole said all she wanted was to be part of Sydney’s life. Rafe and Sami agreed to let Nicole see Sydney but warned her they’d have to take it slowly. Nicole left, and Rafe assured Sami that Nicole really did have Sydney’s best interests at heart. Rafe said they only needed to play along as long as it took to make sure she couldn’t hurt Sami.
After a run-in with Kate, who was clearly still bitter toward Chloe, Melanie called Chloe from the pier and said, “I’m so over your lies. I need to see you right away.” Chloe said she had a doctor’s appointment, but Melanie asked her to cancel it. In the meantime, Daniel showed up and asked what was wrong. Melanie said she’d tell him everything later at the cabin and was about to take the last ferry there. Chloe showed up and cheerily asked Melanie to help pick a name for the baby. Melanie told Chloe not to suck up to her and said she was going to tell her father the truth. Chloe begged and pleaded with Melanie to reconsider, but Melanie insisted the truth had to come out.
Melanie took the last ferry to the cabin and started to clean up. She heard a noise and looked up, expecting to see Daniel, and saw Chloe instead. Melanie asked how she’d gotten there since the ferries had stopped running. Chloe announced that she’d taken Maggie’s boat and promptly threw the keys into the lake so Melanie would have to talk to her. Melanie called Daniel and started to tell him the truth. Just then, Chloe went into labor. Melanie accused her of faking, but Chloe said the baby was coming. Daniel called Melanie back and she answered just in time for Chloe to scream, “Oh God, my water broke!” Melanie told Daniel that she’d taken the last ferry and Chloe lost the boat keys, but Daniel promised he’d find a way to get there. Phillip overheard and told Daniel to meet him at the pier and he’d make sure a boat was waiting. As Daniel and Phillip rushed to get there, Melanie examined Chloe and realized the baby was close. She asked Chloe to push. When the baby’s head was out, Melanie looked again. Noticing the look on Melanie’s face, Chloe asked if her baby was dead and wailed that it was her punishment for cheating on Daniel.
Melanie said that the baby wasn’t getting enough oxygen and was turning blue, asking Chloe to push. Daniel and Phillip arrived just in time for the final pushes and Daniel took over for Melanie. The baby started to cry and Daniel and Chloe took turns holding him as Phillip and Melanie watched. Daniel insisted they take Chloe and the baby to the hospital right away. Just as Stephanie and Caroline arrived at the hospital to tell Roman the truth (that Caroline switched the paternity test results) Daniel, Chloe, Phillip and Melanie arrived with the baby. Chloe was taken to a hospital room, Nathan took the baby to NICU and Melanie said she was glad Phillip and Daniel got there when they did. Melanie went into the hospital room as Chloe and Daniel were kissing. Daniel went to check on the baby and Chloe thanked Melanie for her help. Melanie said that her brother deserved the life she never had, with two parents who were together and loved her. She said she wouldn’t tell her father what Chloe had done… for the baby’s sake.
Daniel wheeled the baby up from NICU and asked if Phillip wanted to hold him. Caroline and Stephanie looked on as Phillip held the baby and Daniel called him a natural. Phillip told Melanie he was ready to be a father. Roman asked Stephanie and Caroline if they were ready for their meeting and Stephanie announced she’d changed her mind about telling him. Caroline insisted she’d done the right thing. Meanwhile, Daniel and Chloe decided to name the baby Parker since it was Daniel’s deceased mother’s maiden name.
Chad went to his father’s office and the secretary gave him his mail. He opened an envelope and found his birth certificate- with Stefano listed as his father. Furious, he went straight to the DiMera mansion where Will happened to be picking up some of his things. Chad wanted to know where Kate or Stefano was. When Will said they weren’t home, Chad left. Will followed him to the pier and demanded to know what was going on. Chad showed Will the birth certificate and said it was a joke. Whoever had mailed it to him, he said, had gotten the date wrong and made him a year older than he was. Will offered his help in finding out who had done it.
Later that week, Chad waited for Kate on the pier so he could confront her. Kate feigned innocence, asking why he would suspect her. Kate said the document could be a fake. Just then, Stefano called asking where Kate was and she asked Chad to be quiet. When Kate hung up, she warned Chad about being on the wrong side of Stefano DiMera and warned him to be cautious about how he handled the birth certificate.
Hope was told she had a visitor and was shocked to see her cousin Jennifer waiting for her. Hope asked what she was doing there and Jennifer said she was there to get her out. Jennifer had researched the medication Hope was on when she committed her crimes. Hope said she knew about the side effects but was choosing to pay for her crimes. Jennifer said that since Abby was doing a semester of college in Spain, Jack Jr. was in boarding school and Jack was chasing a story, she was free and wanted Hope free with her. Hope and Jennifer hugged as the guard yelled at them and Jennifer said she’d be back.
At the Brady Pub, Bo and Carly discussed the case Hope was concerned with. Carly said she’d found out some information and they wondered how to get it to Hope. Carly went to see Hope in prison and Bo was just leaving the pub when Jennifer showed up. Jennifer said she’d already visited Hope and that she seemed really closed down. Jennifer said she’d come back to town because she was suffering from empty nest syndrome and that maybe she’d move back for good.
“Hope would love that, and so would I,” Bo said. “But what’s really going on?”
