This past week wrapped September to a close and with a big regional bang, indeed! Locally, our heartbeat within our scene is strong and rumblings of possible side projects popping up shortly and a long awaited return of a local gem is slated soon...regionally is where it's at right now and we traveled to St. Petersburg for a different musical neverland that does not fall short of delivering and all this following Rockwave Festival and some great national acts over this end of our soggy season.
A200 returns to the local scene after their annual September hiatus break, make sure to get all performance info here and also their Facebook page for a month's schedule and beyond. Good to see them back and also in the studio with Scott Bush at Timeline Studios as well, no better way to hit the studio than well rested and ready to go!
The Grayson Rogers Band made their journey to some larger s tages up in Panama City to compete in the Pepsi Southern Original Contest and also to play on the stage at the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam, where they were followed by Toby Keith and a full roster of other Country stars. So congratualtions on a great trip and show experience...we shall have more from the band on this trip this coming weekend, as we accompany GRB to the Mud Jam, over in Port St. Lucie, this coming Saturday. We shall cover this road trip, as well as summarize the prior trip and get a bit of a band feature added in. Stay tuned here and GRB's Facebook and Reverbnation pages for all things Grayson Rogers Band.
Wednesday is becoming a great mid week break around these parts, as it is Ladies Night at a number of differing establishments and also becoming a nice night to hold down a regular, permanent gig to maintain and build your following while also helping your steady establishment to keep cranking out the business. Ladies Night's are the finest at the Buddha Nightclub and Cigar Bar Live, both clubs are on the same main corridor of McGregor Boulevard, to make a double whammy all that much more possible!
The Fall Down usually hosts Ladies Night at the Buddha every Wednesday, this can change with any other schedule changes at the Buddha, but usually it's the finest rock for girls night at the Buddha. Live music rips at 10 PM on the Buddha stage. A200 takes the reigns for girls night at Cigar Bar Live every Wednesday and their shenaigans start at 9:30 PM sharp. There are also other good Wednesday options that run from the Cape to the northen tip of Naples with: Lazy Daze @ Lobster Lady; Myth @ The Dek; 10,000 Views @ The Beached Whale; Simple Jack @ Nemo's and many others that are being missed here, so make sure to check your band's pages and websites for all dates if you cannot find them here.
This past weekend, we traveled to St. Petersburg and took in a grand showcase of the best in original regional music as we covered the Rock Solid Pressure Industry Showcase 2013. The day unfolded at the State Theater, along Central Avenue, in St. Pete and it provided the perfect back drop for these selected and invited talents to paint their own canvas, each with their own brand and with the 'A game' brought, as they performed in front of a stellar industry related panel of both music/movie industires, in the hopes of exposing this regional menagerie and possibly a band or four getting signed to either recording or endorsement deals, along with gifts of paid studio time as part of some perks to this day of unified musicians to simply put on the best show they know how and see where the cards land!
You may read the introduction to the Rock Solid Pressure Industry Showcase - Part 1 here. Parts 2/3 are reviews and interviews with featured artist's and introduction to panelists. Three will complete and close part two and the series for this event. Part three will publish afte Monday and J-Rock announcing the benefits for bands participating on his radio show. Make sure to check out the bands in the St. Pete/ Tampa/Orlando and surrounding areas and take a day trip to taste something a little different, if you'd prefer a walk on the hard side, then you want to make numerous trips to the State Theater and other fine places along Central Ave.
Reaching out a welcome to all bands from the RSP Showcase to submit performance information for this bi-weekly music feature. You are more than welcome and we would love to promote the talent we have already witnessed with only more to come!
