A benefit that will benefit women and children

According to the Alliance of Arizona Non-Profits Arizona is home of over 21,000 nonprofit organizations that employ over 150,000 people. The full February 2012 report, Borderline: Hope and Concerns for Arizona Nonprofits, goes in to more detail of the financial situation of Arizona's nonprofit organizations along with the growing need of nonprofits in Arizona mainly because of the struggling economy, with health and human services being a primary need among local nonprofits. With so many nonprofits it can be challenging to find just one to offer your support to!

The fact that there are so many nonprofits out there with only a handful receiving a lot of support and attention was one reason Arizona Women's Partnership was formed in 2002; not only to help smaller grass root nonprofits but to also help raise awareness in the community to the more localized organizations making a real difference. Arizona Women's Partnership recognizes the growing need for assistance in health and human services in Arizona along with the fact that only a handful of nonprofit organizations have powerful branding and a large enough support system to continue to effectively serve their communities and continue to grow.

In the last 12 years, Arizona Women's Partnership has hosted their Wine, Women, and Jazz FUNdraisers raising over $235,000 for qualifying nonprofits through this event alone, with approximately 60% of the grant money raised being distributed to grass root nonprofits in Maricopa County. With these grants a grass root organization has the opportunity for more credibility when applying for further grants in the future. Arizona Women's Partnership has a specific criteria for the nonprofits that they offer grants to with women and children's organizations being their primary focus. Nonprofit organizations that receive support from Arizona Women's Partnership include:

  • Domestic Violence Organizations
  • At Risk Youth - Leadership Development
  • Literacy Programs
  • Job Search Assistance
  • Homelessness
  • Safe Haven for girls that are victims of sexual abuse
