A benefit for 34th & Hudson Studios – Jan 1, 2011

While there are numerous people in Charlotte who contribute to the good of the community and work to foster an environment conducive to cultural growth and enjoyment, there are also some who exist at the opposite end of the social spectrum who work to defeat progress through theft and deceit.

On a recent day elements from these factions came together and the degenerates made off with equipment which had value to a large number of folks in our music community.  The 34th & Hudson recording studio was broken into and several instruments and other components were stolen.

The old saying of “It takes a village” came to life this past weekend as Triple S Booking’s Stephanie Michelle performed her magic with a little help from her friends. The result - a benefit show was born!  In fact the show was a huge success resulting in a very energetic and full Evening Muse throughout a four hour program schedule which was executed without a hitch!  The turnout was indeed as heartwarming as it was reflective of the respect and admiration afforded to Joe and Lea as local entrepreneurs and wonderful individuals.

New Years day seemed a great time to help Joe Kuhlmann and the 34th & Hudson Studios begin their journey in recovery and restoration of the fine work done with local artists in laying down their musical tracks.  With a little help, 2011 will be a year of continued growth and contributions to the local music scene – a tradition that has come to define the Kuhlmann’s.

Special recognition goes out to the artists who joined in for this diverse event lending their talents in making this a memorable musical night!  These include – Phil Carias; Matrimony; Justin Tosco; Brandon Kirkley and the Firecrackers; Mike Strauss; John Tosco; Transmission Fields; Shana Blake; The Spiveys; Reeve Coobs w/members of the New Familiars; Grown Up Avenger Stuff; & Poprocket reunited!  MaxxMusic and the entire crew at the Evening Muse – a job well done!

If you would like to make a donation in support of the recovery of 34th & Hudson please visit this link.  I know that Joe and Lea hold a heartfelt appreciation for everything this community is doing for them as they deal with this unfortunate event.  In light of what they have given us over the past decade, it’s simply a way of giving a little back.
