A Beatle tops Rolling Stone's list of greatest dead rock stars

Rolling Stone magazine put out a weekend question to their website readers: "Who's the greatest dead rock star of all time?"

 The results are now up on the site, and the winner, according to the site, is John Lennon. They said Lennon topped the list by "a fairly wide margin."
 
Second was Jimi Hendrix, followed by Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Elvis Presley, Freddie Mercury, Janis Joplin, George Harrison, John Bonham and Keith Moon.  
 
Polls like these are silly, but this one was rather predictable. We're actually surprised Elvis didn't rate higher, to be honest.

    Kurt Cobain???? What did he ever do? A few hit songs, that were actually not very good.

    I am glad John rates so high. Even today 30 years gone by I hate to hear the word "dead" rock star. He is the greatest regardless in my eyes.
