A$ap Rocky is a rapper hailing from Harlem, New York, New York. LONG.LIVE.A$AP is the debut album which debuted at #1 on the billboard charts. This is his first official album after previously releasing the mixtape LIVE.LONG.A$AP.
He starts the cd with two of the best tracks back to back - Long live asap and Goldie. I like the track Long live asap for its horror movie vibe. I thought Goldie was ok, I think it benefited from having a down south screwed chorus. After a few filler songs you get to Fucking Problems, which gives energy back to the album. Drake drops a classic verse and Kendrick Lamar comes thru on this one. Right afterward is the Scrillex collaboration "Wild for the Night", Rocky does good on the EDM beat, though he I think the lyrics are a little simple. Joey Bada$$, Big Krit and Yelawolf are featured on the next track 1 Train, this might be my favorite track. It has a very underground vibe and great hip hop lyrics, sounds like a cypher. The only other great track afterwards in my opinion is Ghetto Symphony which also has a decent instrumental behind it.
Overall this is a very strong debut for an artist unlike anything I've heard since Drake and Nicki Minaj, however I do think A$ap Rocky could be deeper in his lyrics and Wild for the night proves he can make successful uptempo tracks, but beside that I felt the album was a little slow paced. I give this 5 stars, because I felt he made a classic album in ease if only he cut three or four filler tracks.
