A 4-1 loss to the Laredo Bucks have the Allen Americans scratching their heads

A 4-1 loss to Ryan Rondeau and the Laredo Bucks have the Allen Americans scratching their heads wondering—what just happened?

The Allen Americans couldn’t get things going their way offensively on Friday night, as the Bucks handed the Americans a 4-1 loss.

Ryan Sparling of the Bucks had a hat trick on Friday night, although the third goal was an empty netter after the Americans pulled their goalie for and extra man advantage while still trying to hang in the game. Sparling still had a very good performance.

Rondou was on fire as he has been before against the Americans, and he only let one puck get past him.

Rondou in past games have had his way against the Americans, as he blanked them once before this season.

The first period was just a skating exhibition, with no goals being scored at all.

It wasn’t until the Bucks handed the Americans a triple play of goals, before the Americans were to get on the board. Two of the three goal came within 35 seconds of each other, and were scored by Ryan Sparling.
Before the Americans knew it, they were behind 3-0.

The Americans intensity picked up after being down 3-0, but it was that ole’ saying, too little too late, and before the Americans saw a puck cross the red line of Rondeau
and the Bucks, the game was pretty much over.

It was the fourth time the Bucks had beaten the Americans at the Allen Event Center this season alone.

After the game, the Americans make their way to Laredo for another game with them on Saturday night as well two more games next weekend.

All in all, a devastating outing against a team that is far less superior to Americans, but always plays them very hard.

Action that doesn’t show up in the box score…

  • After an elbow being thrown at the 14:18 minute mark by Laredo‘s #19 Justin Styffe turns into a human “Happy Gilmore”, with the classic pull the jersey over the head move, and #71 Trevor Hendrix of the Americans had his way with him (See action in slideshow).
  • #19 A. J. Hau,  would see more of the ice than he would want. Hau was thrown around the AEC many times over on Friday night, by #25 Jim Mckenzie two times, and by # 24 Scott Landon.
  • #26 Joshua Hepditch takes a hard boarding call on the left corner side of the Laredo goal.
  • #9 Ryan Sparling gets iced by #35 Marco Cousineau point blank.
  • #4 Matt Register stops a 2-1 break from behind, and wasn’t called for a hooking penelty.
