The Lock Haven Lady Eagles hosted an Atlantic-10 Conference field hockey game today at noon. The University of Richmond Spiders were the second Richmond, Virginia team in town recently. Virginia Commonwealth University came and left with a shutout loss just two days ago. Today was different, though, as the Spiders got a 2-1 win out of their trip into the deep woods of Pennsylvania.
Lock Haven came into the game with an overall record of 13-4 and 3-1 in A-10 play. Richmond had a 10-6 overall record and also had 3-1 record in the A-10.
Charlotte E. Smith Field: October 27, 2013...12:00 P.M.
Lock Haven was in the midst of quite a run entering today's contest at Charlotte E. Smith Field on the campus of Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania: the Lady Eagles had posted back-to-back-to back shutouts all of which were A-10 opponents. The first goal of today's game was from a penalty stroke as UR got fouled near the LHU goal. Chelsea Davies took the penalty shot from four yards out directly in front of the goal and beat the Lady Eagles goalie Elaina White head-high to her right side.
There was a flurry of activity beginning about sixteen minutes after the first goal when UR got a break as Taylor Dietrick took a low shot that deflected off a LHU defender to the left of LHU goalie Elaina White. Fifty nine seconds later Taylor Kennedy of LHU got the Lady Eagles right back in this game with a low shot to the far post and by UR's goalie Anna Zarkoski.
