9th Annual Wheels ‘n Windmills – Solvang, California
The Ninth Annual Solvang Wheels ‘n Windmills car show takes place this Saturday, August 24th in the Danish-themed town of Solvang.
You will find over 300 America and domestic classics along with custom rod and one-of-a-kind vehicles such as tractors to motorcycles on display in downtown Solvang. Car-themed vendors will have their booths set up throughout the town and you have a chance to win a souped up V-8 engine for your next car project.
In addition to the car show the town of Solvang offers great food, the Solvang Antique Motorcycle Museum and the Elverhoj Historical Museum. All these attractions are within walking distance of each other. Solvang also has many wine tasting outlets with several wineries located close by.
Proceeds from the show this year will benefit the Central Coast Type 1 Diabetes charity. Last year’s show donated over $25,000 to Samsun Clinic’s Camp Wheez, Cupcakes for Cancer, Santa Ynez Valley High School, Santa Maria High School, The Progeria Research Foundation and the Santa Ynez Valley Therapeutic Riding Program.
Viewing starts at 10:00am. Give yourself plenty of time to walk around the town to view the cars and the other attractions in the town of Solvang. Over 10,000 motorheads were in Solvang last year. Viewing goes until 4:00pm.
Besides the regular tourist things to buy you can also enter a raffle to win a customized V-8 engine for the project you’ve been waiting to start.
Solvang is located 40 miles west of Santa Barbara. From Los Angeles take Highway 101 to the town of Buellton. Exit at Highway 254, going east to Solvang. Take sunscreen, wear a hat and bring plenty of water to drink and don’t forget your camera.
