9th annual Longmont Handbell Festival features five local churches

The 9th annual Longmont Handbell Festival will be held at First United Methodist Church in Longmont on May 2 at 3:30 pm. The festival features handbell choirs from five local churches, including First UMC, Longs Peak UMC, First Evangelical Luteran, Bethlehem Lutheran, and St. Stephens Episcopal. The show is suitable for all ages, and admission is free.

First UMC's handbell choir features a five octave handbell set. They play once a month at Sunday services as well as special services and also have participated in various handbell festivals. Rehearsal is held every Thursday evening, and the choir is directed by Valerie Matthews.
