AIWF’s 9th Annual Culinary School BBQ Battle will take place Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Esplanade Park in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The event will offer guests barbeque brisket and side dishes from five competing culinary schools, plus food sampling stations from area restaurants and a variety of wine, beer and spirits, all river side in Fort Lauderdale.
Reservations are $50.00 per person pre-event. Online reservations will end at 11:59 PM on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013. We do not issue actual tickets, all reservations made will be listed by name and amount of reservations purchased at the event registration desk. For each reservation, all attending guests must be present at the same time for entrance to the event. Day of Event reservations will only be accepted at the event and if available, cost is $60.00 per person. Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express are accepted, NO CASH! Website will indicate if reservations are still available day of event.
Proceeds from this event support Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale and The American Institute of Wine & Food’s scholarship fund and signature Days of Taste program. Both Riverwalk and AIWF are non-profit 501(c)3 organizations.
Johnson & Wales University, Le Cordon Bleu, Florida International University, The Art Institute and Miami Culinary Institute will create their best version of BBQ brisket with side dishes. The schools will be judged by our professional panel for best brisket, best side dish and grand champion. In addition we will offer a people’s choice award selected by our attending guests. All schools will receive equal scholarships at the event, but only one will walk away as Grand Champion.
Whole Foods, Roho Kitchen, The Chimney House Grill & Café, Luigi’s Coal Oven Pizza, Sparky’s Roadside Barbeque, The Whole Enchilada – Fresh Mexican Grill, Susie’s Scrumptious Sweets and Rice & Dough will also be in the running.
Beverages provided by Premier Beverage – E&J Gallo Winery, Casa Vinicola Zonin, Jack Daniel’s Old #7 Brand and Voss Artesian Water From Norway and Brown Distributing Specialty Division – Cisco Breweries.
