Yes Olympic fans, there is a Santa Claus. And he has somehow convinced British Airways and American Airlines to offer historically low fares to the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria. If you book immediately, both airlines have a total of 27 one-stop flights daily from JFK to Munich, Germany on January 11 and 12 in time to get you there for the opening ceremonies for just ninety-eight dollars, one-way. Is there a catch? Yes, return flights start at $538. But a round-trip plus budget accommodations will still be available under $1000.

Hotels.com is having a long-stay discount special. Ten days at the three-star Frankenhof resort west of Innsbruck will cost just $520. You can stay at the budget “House of Athletes” in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a half-hour away for just $25 a night. FYI, United is offering round-trips on non-stop flights from Chicago for $846 for 2012 Winter Youth Olympics travel to Munich, the largest inter-continental airport near Innsbruck

Once you are there, the Winter Youth Olympic Games has a spectacular program and tickets are still available. Bobsleigh, luge, skeleton, ski jumping, ice hockey, figure skating, curling and many different skiing contests will take place by day. The evening programs include medal ceremonies and a cultural program that is sure to inspire all.
