The Marquís de Lafayette Ballrooms (391 Washington Street) hosted the Chocolate Affair on January 31, 2013. The proceeds helped support Hospice Buffalo while guests enjoyed the savory experience. Eighty booths filled the Hotel at the Lafayette including popular restaurants, bakeries, boutiques, wineries and local businesses.

The event commenced at 5 pm with dessert and wine sampling and Peter Van Scooza and David Meyer’s entertainment. The night continued with the song stylings of Dozo My Lady’s Carolyn and Dave Lansom. Guests circled the ornate rooms and indulged in Buffalo’s decadent desserts.

Restaurants and confectioneries such as Amaretto Bistro, Butterwood Sweet & Savory, Edible Arrangements, PanAm Grill & Brewery, Paula’s Donuts, Pearl Street Grill & Brewery, Perfetto and Salvatore’s Italian Gardens passed out velvety-smooth treats while Massage by Melissa and The Village Spa relaxed the body. To put guests in the right spirit, wineries such as Casa Larga, Freedom Run, Long Cliff, Leonard Oakes and Niagara Wine Trail topped off the night.

The evening was a sweet success, not only by offering Buffalonians a tasty helping of their city’s best but benefited a worthy cause. The Chocolate Affair may be over but remember to sample the 2014 serving next year.
