93.3 The Beat gives listeners chance to win Best of the Best tickets

Listeners of local radio station 93.3 The Beat have an opportunity to win tickets to the 2010 Best of the Best mega concert being held in Miami on Sunday, May 30 (Memorial Day weekend). This annual event is being held in Bicentennial Park and the artist lineup features some of the biggest names in dancehall reggae, including Mavado, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Baby Cham, Lady Saw, Serani, Mr.Vegas, Gyptian, Anthony B, Pinchers, and Aidonia. Several prominent hip-hop stars will be performing as well, and more artists are scheduled to be announced within coming days.

Currently, an early bird special of $44 is running until May 1 for tickets, and VIP tickets are $100. However, 93.3 listeners have several chances to win free tickets to the event. The station’s website offers a chance to register to win tickets on D.J. Ian’s page. In addition, each week during the Reggae Vibrations show, which airs on Sundays from 6-9 p.m., D.J. Ian is giving away tickets to his listeners.

There has been speculation throughout the blogosphere about the concert lineup since several Jamaican reggae artists have recently had their U.S. visas revoked in a controversial move by the U.S. Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica. Those artists include Mavado, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, and Aidonia. However, promoters insist that the show will go on.

If you aren’t one of the lucky listeners who wins free tickets, then you can purchase your tickets through the Best of the Best website, Ticketmaster’s website or any Ticketmaster outlets. For those in the Miami/Dade area, tickets can also be purchased at several retail establishments there. The list of those stores, as well as phone numbers to call for more information is listed on the Best of the Best Website.

Stay tuned and make sure to subscribe to my column to keep up with any important updates about the concert.
